Using the Send SMS Action Node in Workflows

The Send SMS action node sends an SMS message to a contact.

Send SMS Action Node


  1. Create a new workflow or edit an existing workflow.
    To create a new workflow, go to Automation > Workflows and click Create New Workflow.
    Note: If you created a new workflow, make sure you name it by clicking the pencil icon above the Node Palette.
  2. Drag the Send SMS node on to the workflow canvas.
  3. Click the following text in the Send SMS action node: an SMS message.
  4. Click on the name of the SMS message you want to send.
    Note: You will only be able to select messages that have been approved for sending. For more information on message approval, see Enabling Message Approval Prior to Send.
  5. Click Select.
  6. Click any.
    From the Filter Constraint drop-down menu, choose Any or All.
  7. Click your subscription keywords.
  8. In the pop-up window, click the row associated with the keyword you want to use.
  9. Click Select.


If you are using the Keyword Membership Change, Incoming SMS to Basic KeywordOrder Is Added, or Order Is Shipped trigger nodes, you do not have to select a keyword.

If the trigger node is Order is Added or Order is Shipped, the action node Send SMS will allow the customer to send an SMS message to the phone number associated with the order, which can be different from the number on the contact record.
