Content Palette

The Content palette is where you can access and save templates that you can use to build your messages.

Content templates are divided into 4 areas:

Content Tags

 Blocks of content you can insert into your message. There are two content tag buttons:
  • Save Message As Content Tag allows you to save your current message as a content tag that you can use in other messages.
  • Insert Content Tags allows you to access content tags you have designed with a content tag editor in order to use them in the current message.
When you insert a content tag you can select from a list of the content tags you already designed using the Messages > Content Tags pages. There are two ways you can insert a content tag:
  • Dynamic Tags: If you insert a tag dynamically then the tag will appear as dynamic code in your message and the tag retains its connection to the original content tag. The dynamic code will look like %%@tagname%%. When you send a message, the dynamic tag is replaced with the content tag's contents. This means that any updates you make to the content tag with the content tag editor will be reflected in the sent message.
  • Static Tags: When you use a static tag, the contents of the tag are pulled into the message but are no longer connected to the original content tag. Think of static tags like you are copying and pasting content. Once it is in the message, you can edit the content tag within the email message editor like any other content in the message.

You can use either of these methods for drag and drop or legacy WYSIWYG content tags. However, we recommend you use drag and drop content tags with the email message editor for better responsive design support.

When you save a message as a content tag all of the associated dynamic content and code settings are saved also. If you make changes and want to save them as a content tag, you can save your updates as a new content tag or overwrite the old content tag by saving your new email with the same content tag name.

Headers Is a list of the headers you have created in Bronto using the Messages > Headers & Footers page. You can select any header from the list to add it to your message. The content of the header cannot be edited from the message editor. For more information about creating and editing headers see Headers And Footers. To add a header
  1. Open the Content palette.
  2. Scroll to the Headers & Footers panel.
  3. Select a header from the list.

If you do not want a header in your message, make sure None is selected.
Footers Is a list of the footers you have created in Bronto using the Messages > Headers & Footers page. You can select any footer to add it to your message. The content of the footer cannot be edited from the message editor. To add a header
  1. Open the Content palette.
  2. Scroll to the Headers & Footers panel.
  3. Select a footer from the list.

If you do not want a footer in your message, select None.
